Senior Living Automation – Starting a new chapter in life

When it comes to the elderly, the most common problem that they face is of physical dependence and absent mindedness. Physically dependence increases with age grows and also they tend to forget things. This may however prove dangerous as they have to deal with things like gas, electricity, etc. on a daily basis.

Science over the years has found out solutions for this. It has come up with automation solutions keeping in mind the needs of the elderly. Various products are offered as a part of the automation solutions for the well-being of the senior citizens.

There are automated solutions available for operating electrical devices. Remote Control is a solution meant for operating electrical devices at home. Electrical devices such as lights, fans, air conditioners can be operated with the help of a Remote Control. This reduces their effort to operate the devices manually.

With age the physical activities of the seniors lessen down and many of them find it difficult to frequently switch on/off lights manually. The Remote Control in this case proves as a boon to them. It leads to decreased dependence on the caregiver and a feeling of satisfaction amongst the elderly.
Motion Sensor is another product which can be installed in the passageways, bathrooms, pantries, etc. The sensors automatically turn on/off based on the movement sensed over a predefined period. This eliminates manual turning on/off the lights and a solution for absentmindedness of elderly.

Panic buttons and emergency call buttons can be made use of in case of an emergency. Panic buttons when pressed sends a notification to the smartphone or tablet of the resident thereby allowing them to take immediate action.

In apartments and societies, you could also opt for a Central Monitoring System or a Facility Management System. The Central Monitoring System is used to monitor emergency calls or unexpected events occurring in the house. The Facility Management System is also used to address issues related to the facility management e.g., lift not working, issues with AC or kitchen drainage etc.
Then there are smoke sensors which rings an alarm when any smoke is detected. This helps to control situations in case of a fire breakout.

Elderly people many a times forget to put off the knob of the gas, which may result in dangerous situations. The gas sensors can work as a life saver here. Not only does it warn the resident but also the Facility Management Staff. It raises an alarm so that the Facility Management Staff can take necessary action.

Also for people who wish to monitor activities of their elders can install IP Cameras at homes. This camera can connect wirelessly to any WiFi or to the internet for viewing via the Smart App. The camera is able to automatically record the activity when any sensor is triggered in the room. This helps the person who is monitoring to take necessary action regarding the same.

Etch memories forever with your hospitality

Seeing happy and contented faces is the aim of hotels all around. However, it is a tough job. To make someone happy, to fulfill all the demands, to provide them with the services they want, etc. is not as easy as it seems. A few tips to guide you strike the right cord with the customer.

Automate

Automation is the key. The latest craze in the market has taken the industry by storm. To be in the rat race, you always have to be updated. You have to know what’s going on in the industry and what are your competitors doing. The best thing about automation solutions are that, they are affordable and can be installed in a couple of hours. It is a no mess solution with easy usage.

Personalize the guest

The guest is the King here. A happy and satisfied customer in turn leads to good reviews and good publicity for the hotel. A hotel is known by the service it provides. The service adds another dimension to the hotel’s reputation. Learn to identify the customer’s need and win over them.

The customer’s wish is your command

Customer is everything. The customer would only be happy if every demand and expectations of his/her are met. It may be a simple request for a room service or to make up his/her room. Don’t hesitate to go forward and ask whether they are happy with the service. If they are not, ask them what would make them feel good. Go an extra mile to show how valuable they are.

Be a Trendsetter

Have your own concept. Don’t ape others. If you do so, people won’t relate to your hotel but would always be ready to compare. Give them a taste of your individuality which would always work as a trump card for you. People today look forward to vacations with families and spending some quality with their loved ones. At this point of time it is necessary to offer them services that they might not have experienced before.

Respect Privacy and provide Safety and Security

If you are dealing with cameras, make sure you respect the privacy of your guests. They might become apprehensive about their personal space but ensure that their privacy won’t be compromised. Secondly provide a safe and secure environment by regular checks of the residing area and around.

IP Cameras – A reliable support

I am a working professional and don’t get home early. So I have made sure that I keep a watch over my home remotely from my office. My in laws take care of my child as they are apprehensive about the child being brought up in a secure environment.

I have installed IP Cameras at my home which is positioned in a way where I can monitor all the activities in the house. My in laws can take care of my child but are physically less active so they can’t take immediate action in case of an emergency. So we thought that it would be a wise decision to install an IP Camera at home so that we could monitor all the activities and take action in case of an emergency.

Believe me this was the wisest decision we took. For, we always had a habit of monitoring what’s going on at home. My son used to come from school then carry out his daily routine which included having his food, taking a nap, doing his homework and then going to the playground to play. This was his favorite part of the day. We both would regularly watch over his activities.
Then we suggested that the children could come and play in our house itself. This way all the children would be playing in a secure environment. This was a daily routine for the kids. The kids used to play and my in laws used to look after them. One day as the children were playing, my father in law started getting chest pain and collapsed on the floor. Seeing this my mother in law went into a state of shock and fell on the floor too. The children could not understand anything and started crying.

As it was my routine to keep a watch on the children’s activities, I thought of checking in what’s going on at our place. To my shock I saw my in laws collapsed on the floor and the children crying. I immediately called my husband and we rushed home. While on the way, we called the ambulance and made sure not to panic in front of the kids.

We were just thanking our stars. The IP Cameras had saved my in laws and the children. When I shared this with other parents, they too got IP Cameras installed in their homes from where they could monitor the daily activities of their loved ones. These IP Cameras really were the eyes watching over the children.

I bought the camera from one Indian company named BuildTrack. They seem to be a leader in automation solutions. For more info, visit http://www.buildtrack.in/.
